National History Day (NHD) is an exciting year round academic program for 6th through 12th grade students across the nation. The Chester County History Center is the official coordinator for National History Day in Chester and Delaware Counties, Pennsylvania. Each year, over 2,000 local students participate in their schools, 300 advance to compete at the regional level (our contest), and many continue on to the state and national competition. CCHC invites you to compete, judge, or sponsor National History Day in support of history education.
Southeastern PA NHD will take place Friday March 15 and Saturday March 16, 2024.

Turning Points in History
To celebrate our 50th anniversary, NHD’s theme will be Turning Points in History. This year’s theme invites you to consider questions of time and place, cause and effect, change over time, and impact and significance.
A turning point in history is more than just an important event that happened a long time ago. It is more than a new idea or a particular action taken by an individual. A turning point is an idea, event, or action that directly, or sometimes indirectly, causes change.

National History Day 2024 (2025 information TBD)
Student Check-In begins at 9:30 am at the CCHC front desk.
Paper Interviews run from 10:15-12:15 on Friday; 10:15-10:45 on Saturday.
Documentary Interviews run from 10:15-12:30 on Friday; 10:15-11:45 on Saturday.
Website Interviews run from 10:45-12:30 on Friday; 11:00-12:45 on Saturday.
Performance Interviews run from 1:00-1:40 on Friday.
Exhibit Interviews run from 11:00-1:40 on Friday and 11:00-12:40 on Saturday.
Ask your teacher for your specific interview time.
FOR EXHIBITS
Seniors (Group and Individual): Plan to have your exhibits set up and ready for viewing by 10:00 am on Friday. Public Viewing is from 10:00-11:00 am, and interviews begin in 20-minute increments from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Check with your teacher for your interview time.
Juniors (Group and Individual): Plan to have your exhibits set up and ready for viewing by 10:00 am on Saturday. Public Viewing is from 10:00-11:00 am, and interviews begin in 20-minute increments from 11:00 am to 12:40 pm. Check with your teacher for your interview time.
AWARDS CEREMONIES
The Awards Ceremonies will begin at 3:30 pm on Friday and 3:00 pm on Saturday. Students DO NOT need to be present at the awards ceremony.
